Xiaomi’s latest budget Smartphone launched in the market is Redmi 4A. It supports Dual SIM, that can be nano or micro. The 5inch (12.7cm) phone has a 2G RAM, weighs about 131.5g and feels feather light in the hands. It is available in colours: gold, rose gold and dark grey. The operating system is Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow), an upgrade is available. It has a 3120mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery and comes power-packed with Adreno 308 GPU & Snapdragon 425 64-bit, a quad-core processor that enables smooth gameplay.
On unboxing, you get the mobile (obviously!), a pin to open the SIM slot, a manual guide, portable charger and a USB cable.
The internal storage of the device is 16GB out of which 10.42GB is available. In this 10.42GB space, 6.57GB space is used by the system apps (can’t be uninstalled). That’s something undesirable. I would really prefer if the system apps were a little less in number to avoid forcefully keeping any apps that I hardly use.
The microSD storage can be expanded up to 256GB, it has to be placed in the second SIM slot. So, either you have both of your SIMs (manage with the internal storage) or one SIM and a microSD card. At the top, you have a 3.5mm jack, noise cancellation mic (at the bottom too with microUSB 2.0 port). There are the hard press volume keys and lock button on the right-hand side of the handset.
Redmi 4A has a 13megapixel rear camera and 5megapixel front camera. Both the cameras produce good quality pictures, the best you can get in a Smartphone in this budget. The rear camera located at the top-left corner looks quite sleek with a LED flash beside it.
The camera comes with features like geo-tagging, smile detection, beautify (for selfies), HDR for rich tone pictures, panorama for serene landscapes & touch focus that works pretty quick blurring out the background so that the subject of the picture is in the finest quality possible. It can record video of 1080p at 30 frames per second.
The phone has MIUI 8 interface that allows you to fully customise various themes, wallpapers and icons.
Sensors equipped with the Redmi 4A are accelerometer, gyro and proximity.
